TJ and I were invited to tag along with my sister and her boyfriend to Charleston this past weekend and I can never pass up a trip to that city. I’ve written a few posts about Charleston before which I’ll leave below but this past weekend was fun because we only went to places we hadn’t tried before… including the Airbnb we stayed which was a 5 minute walk away from King St. Other places we’ve stayed in the past have been: Belmond Charleston Place, Harbourview Inn, The Vendue, and the Courtyard Charleston Waterfront (Marriott) with my personal favorite being HarbourView Inn but, sometimes, downtown Charleston hotels can be a splurge, especially between April and June.

One of my favorite parts about living in Raleigh is how close we are to both the coast and the mountains. The quickest beach for us to get to is Wrightsville Beach so TJ and I try and make a weekend trip out there whenever we get a chance. I’ve also been to a couple of my friends’ bachelorette weekends there over the past years but have never spent a lot of time exploring the actual city of Wilmington until this past weekend.

It feels like it was forever ago when it was really only a couple of weekends back but TJ and I planned a one-night staycation at The Carolina Inn over his birthday weekend right before Christmas. With all of the last minute deadlines and holiday craziness that week, it was so nice to get away even just for one night. It felt like we were on a trip in another state. We dropped off the dogs at my parent’s house and off we went to our luxurious hotel for the evening just in time to check-in, grab some appetizers and a glass of wine, and settle in for the night before our dinner reservations down at the hotel’s restaurant.

Last week I had the incredibly cool opportunity to visit the Biltmore Estate with Balsam Hill during their holiday prep time! It’s kindof weird having a holiday on a Wednesday. It seems like a lot of people took off the entire week and headed to the beach! Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. We will hopefully be there toward the end of this week though and I am looking forward to it.

TJ and I just got back from a mini getaway to Charleston to celebrate our one year anniversary and we had the best time. I wish we could have extended our stay but it’s time to get back to reality. For those of you who are new here, my husband, TJ, and I got married in Charleston last June so we decided we’d head back there this past weekend, stay in a hotel we had never stayed in before, try some new places to eat, revisit our wedding venue, and just enjoy a couple of days away as oldie-weds… that’s what happens when you’re no longer a newlywed, right?

What is your favorite day of the week? Saturday will forever remain my favorite day of the week and I think most people would agree. I have my ideal Saturday and Sunday scenarios, especially during this time of year.
